Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park

“Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park” combined orchestral music, choirs and dance theatre. It was another entertaining night for Gold Coast lovers of music and the arts. The JVG Sound Lighting and Visual Hire Department were on hand throughout The Pre Bleach Weekend, ensuring complete control and success with the pro audio and lighting equipment. Unfortunately, the Gold Coast was experiencing a wet weather weekend, but that did not stop The Pre Bleach Weekend festivities from entertaining its’ crowd on Sunday. The event was moved to a more suitable indoor location rather than at the previously proposed Palm Beach Parklands.

The evening began with vocal ensembles; Voice Weavers and Imbari performed the sounds of the sea live on stage. The 60-member Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra led by Concert Master Margaret McAteer and Conductor Mark Turpin then took to the stage. JVG Hire staff used a professional audio system for the stage performances ensuring quality sound and ambience throughout the indoor venue. To achieve this a J Audio Double V-Rig Hire Package was used, which included 4 x J Audio V15 speakers, 4 x J Audio V12 Stage Monitors and 4 x J Audio V218 Subwoofers as well as 3 x Lab Gruppen Amplifiers and a Yamaha M7CL ES48 Digital Mixer. A range of condenser microphones were used by the performers, these included 16 x Shure SM57’s. The JVG Hire technicians suspended 12 x Par 64 LED Cans to illuminate the indoor stage.

Brisbane-based dance theatre company “Polytoxic” performed the visually spectacular Trade Winds dance using projected bright visuals and pre-recorded music to celebrate the stories and history of the Pacific Ocean. The JVG Team provided 2 x JBL Eon speakers and 2 x JBL Eon subwoofers for the Trade Winds outdoor performance.

The Pre Bleach Weekend was a great success with all three events “Treasure Trove”, “Bleach at Burleigh” and “Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park” drawing good crowds. The coastal entertainment continues with multiple upcoming celebrations of art and culture. The JVG Sound Lighting and Visual Hire Department will continue to provide pro audio, visual and lighting equipment and expertise throughout the events and look forward to working with the Bleach Festival team during the fantastic local festivities.
