Billabong Film Premiere, Kirra Surf QLD

In the midst of the Quicksilver Pro 2011 the world saw the premiere of Dean Morrison’s new surf film, “A Dingo’s Tale”.JVG Sound Lighting and Visual projected the movie onto the outdoor existing large advertisement panel on the front of the Kirra Surf building. Outside, the pending rain posed a threat to the entire event. Despite the weather, the JVG Team were still able to create an easy-going atmosphere for all the surfing fanatics. Staging, lighting and audio was assembled undercover for the live performing band. In use was a large 10,000 anti lumens commercial projector and Blue Ray DVD player using Kramer extenders over cat6.

JVG set up professional audio for the live band performance which included of 4 x J-Audio V218 subwoofers, 4 x J Audio V15 speakers and 4 x J Audio V12M Stage Monitors. The Soundcraft console delivered an intuitive, uncomplicated and sonically superior mixing solution for the large outside environment. The BSS, DBX and TSS electronics ensured all sound levels and EQ’s were customised for maximum performance to ensure quality sound. Shure wireless Beta87/SLX2and Shure Beta 52A kick-down microphones were supplied for live band and public address use.

8 x Robe 170 AT and 16 x Tri LED Bar lights were suspended above the staging area using Global Truss equipment. Custom gobos for the Robe 170 AT were created for this event enabling sponsor branding to be illuminated onto the wall surfaces during the show. This lighting system was controlled with an Ezi Control 22” touch panel running Windows 7, Ecue Silver Butler and the DMX chain.
