2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games: An announcement from JVG Sound

Dear Valued Customer,

It is now less than a month before the combination of Easter, the Commonwealth Games and school holidays descend upon our backyard. Exactly what effect this will have on the way we operate and go about our day to day business is unknown.
I think it’s safe to say that getting any representative for JVG Sound to travel around the coast and Brisbane areas from Thursday 29th March until Monday 16th April 2018 will be an interesting challenge.

It’s obvious already, due to the often severe traffic conditions we experience, that the key infrastructures (the M1 Motorway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane & the Gold Coast Highway) will be extremely affected.

Travel times to and from sites, daily freight pick up and deliveries and general daily on road conditions may become severely delayed – not just for us but for all our suppliers for local and interstate deliveries.
We are already being advised by companies they are closing for the whole or parts of the games period.

We will be open and attempting to operate as per our normal office hours Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm and 8:30am – 4pm on Fridays.

I am sure all businesses in the South East of Queensland have put some thought into this scenario. My suggestion is to be prepared, talk to our staff and representatives about forward orders and possibly holding slightly more stock than usual. Last minute urgent deliveries & venue breakdown call outs are not going to be an option if the traffic is shutdown on the only arterial roads in this area.

In advance we would like to thank you for your understanding & support during these exciting times for the coast.

Please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0755 991 222 for any other queries in this regard. – Etienne van Staden, JVG Sound
